Your files are protected using 448bit Blowfish Encryption before they leave your system. This extremely secure "bank grade" encryption algorithm has never been cracked. Your files are then stored in this encrypted state at our secure data centre.
Can Backup247 access my files?
Each user creates a individual username and password. This means that each user also creates a unique encryption key. This encryption key ensures that while your data is securely stored at our data centre, only you have access to decrypt your files. In fact, even our most privileged Backup247 systems administrators do not have the ability to decrypt and view your data. Your data is completely safe and private at all times.
End-to-End File Verification
Each file that is backed up to our data centre is verified of its integrity against known CRC errors. Files are revivified each time they are written to disk. If any file fails verification, it is retransmitted from your computer or server or recovered from the replica server. This ensures that the data stored on our servers is the same data that was stored on your computer or server.
Secure Servers
Our current data centre was chosen after recognising the value of their CISSP security classifications and their full redundancy provision, including:
Power - Dual Energy Australia feeds to on-site substation with multiple fail-over systems for instantaneous changeover to local power supplies (5 diesel generators, 2 of which are used for redundancy only). These are tested every month.
Internet - Four tier-1 internet connections offering a minimum of 155Mbps (over 1Gbps total capacity), wired through redundant network switches, designed in the event of a failure, to cutover within 26 seconds. Again, these are tested in a real world environment once a month
On-Site Network Operations - 24x7 Network Operations Centre, ensuring fully qualified engineers are always monitoring the status of our servers.
Security - 24x7 armed security team; entry to authorised personnel only, 150 cameras and weight sensing biometric entry portals.
Backup - Your data is also backed up at the data centre onto it's own dedicated storage network which is itself backed up offsite weekly. Should you keep a local copy of your backup as well; that's a possible 4 layers of protection. And the more copies there is of your data, the more chance you have of a full recovery should the worst happen.
